Standards for MSBA Program

DESCRIPTION OF POLICY:
To be admitted to the MSBA
program, applicants should have a QPA of 3.0 or higher for the last 60 hours of
undergraduate work and a GMAT score of 500 or better from a test administered
within the last five years or a combined score of 1100 using the formula (200xQPA + GMAT). Students must also have a QPA of 3.0 or higher on any graduate
work completed. International students
must have a TOEFL score of 575 or higher or a bachelor's degree or higher from
a U.S. institution of higher learning.
The director of Graduate Studies in Business will have discretion to
make exceptions to these requirements.
DESCRIPTION OF PROCESS FOR CHANGING POLICY:
Majority vote by the College
of Business and Industry Graduate Faculty.
DESCRIPTION OF RELATED PROCEDURE:
The Office of Graduate
Studies will calculate each applicant’s QPA over their last 60 hours and post
it on the screening form prior to its being sent to the Office of Graduate
Studies in Business where the applicant’s GMAT score report will be attached to
the application. If an applicant’s
combined score is less than 1100, the director of Graduate Studies in Business
may admit the applicant on a provisional basis based on letters of
recommendation, statement of purpose, work experience or a personal
interview. Provisional admissions
should generally not exceed 20 percent of the admissions to the program for a
given semester.
REVIEW OF POLICY/PROCEDURE:
This COBI-AOP will be
reviewed at least every five years by the Graduate Policies Committee at the
request of the Graduate Director with request for revision presented to the
College of Business and Industry Graduate Faculty.
