SUBJECT: Major Field Course Work Requirements of the
Ph.D. Program
DATE: May 4, 2000
DESCRIPTION OF POLICY:
Students in the Ph.D.
program are to declare a major field within the College of Business and
Industry. The major fields of study
available in the College are:
Accounting; Business Information Systems; Finance; Management; and
Marketing. The minimum course work
requirement for the major is twenty-four (24) graduate credit hours.
DESCRIPTION OF PROCESS
FOR CHANGING POLICY:
Majority vote by the College
of Business and Industry Graduate Faculty.
DESCRIPTION OF RELATED
PROCEDURE:
It is expected that the courses
composing the major field would be offered by that academic area. However, up to twenty-five percent (25%) or six hours of the major field course
work may consist of courses, which the student’s Graduate Program Committee
considers an integral part of the major, that are offered by academic areas
outside the major. This portion of the
major field course work may be either inside or outside of the College of
Business and Industry. The
Director of the Graduate Studies may be
petitioned by a student’s Graduate Program Committee to exceed the twenty-five
percent (25%) limitation in special cases.
REVIEW OF
POLICY/PROCEDURE:
This COBI-AOP will be reviewed at least every five years by the Graduate Policies Committee at the request of the Graduate Director with request for revision presented to the College of Business and Industry Graduate Faculty.
