SUBJECT:     Required Ph.D. Qualifying and Preliminary (Written) Examinations

 

DATE:                        May 4, 2000

 

DESCRIPTION OF POLICY:

The student must take a Qualifying Examination in the quantitative area and Preliminary Written Examinations in the major and all designated minor fields.

 

DESCRIPTION OF PROCESS FOR CHANGING POLICY:

Majority vote by the College of Business and Industry Graduate Faculty.

                       

DESCRIPTION OF RELATED PROCEDURE:

Qualifying Examinations are three (3) hour written examinations over prescribed courses common to all students.  Preliminary Examinations are at a minimum four (4) hour written examinations for minor fields and at a minimum eight (8) hour written examinations for major fields.

 

REVIEW OF POLICY/PROCEDURE:

This COBI-AOP will be reviewed at least every five years by the Graduate Policies Committee at the request of the Graduate Director with request for revision presented to the College of Business and Industry Graduate Faculty.
