Final Defense of the Dissertation

A Final Defense of the Dissertation
will not be scheduled sooner than two weeks after a final copy of the
dissertation has been distributed to all members of the student’s Graduate
Dissertation Committee and to the academic unit within which the major is
housed. The student is responsible for
verifying that the final copy of the dissertation conforms to the regulation of
the MSU Office of Graduate Studies as specified in the current edition of the
manual Guidelines for Preparing Dissertations and Theses.

of Business and Industry Graduate Faculty.
DESCRIPTION OF RELATED
PROCEDURE:
A student must be enrolled
during the semester in which the Final Defense is administered. The defense is scheduled by the Chairman of
the Graduate Dissertation Committee through the Office of Graduate Studies in
Business and is administered by the student’s Graduate Dissertation Committee
plus a representative of the Graduate Council.
The request to schedule the Final Defense must be made to Graduate
Studies in Business at least two weeks prior to the anticipated date of the
final defense. To qualify for
graduation in a given semester the Final Defense must take place at least by
the “Last day for final examination for doctoral degree” as published in the
Graduate Academic Calendar of the Graduate Bulletin. The Final Defense is open to all interested
parties and a copy of the manuscript is available through the unit housing the
major.
REVIEW OF
POLICY/PROCEDURE:
This COBI-AOP will be reviewed at least every five years by the Graduate Policies Committee at the request of the Graduate Director with request for revision presented to the College of Business and Industry Graduate Faculty.
