SUBJECT: Determination
of Doctoral Program Committee
DATE: May 4, 2000
DESCRIPTION OF POLICY:
The doctoral student’s
Graduate Program Committee is assigned by the Director of Graduate Studies in
Business and consists of at least five (5) members. The committee is constituted as follows: Three members, one of which is the chairman,
are from the major; one member from each minor or support area; and one member
from the College of Business at large (e.g., not from a major of minor
area). All committee members must be
members of the Graduate Faculty.
DESCRIPTION OF PROCESS
FOR CHANGING POLICY:
Other than the assignment of
members, which is the responsibility of the Director of Graduate Studies in
Business, the other aspects of the policy are subject to majority vote by the
College of Business and Industry Graduate Faculty.
DESCRIPTION OF RELATED
PROCEDURE:
The Director of Graduate
Studies in Business shall check with the administrator of the academic unit
housing the major as to possible chairpersons from the major area. The Director, in consultation with the
department chair, selects the program chairperson and informs the student. The student, in consultation with the Chair,
then selects the remaining members to be requested. All potential members are required to indicate their willingness
to serve on the committee by signing the form.
The administrator of the unit housing the major is required to sign the
form indicating approval of the members requested from the major. When all required signatures have been
obtained, the form is to be returned to the Office of Graduate Studies in
Business for approval and appointment of the committee by the Director of
Graduate Studies in Business.
