SUBJECT:     Responsibility of Doctoral Program Committee

DESCRIPTION OF POLICY:

The doctoral student’s Graduate Program Committee will determine the student’s course work requirements, monitor the student’s course work progress, and administer the student’s Comprehensive (Oral) Examination.  The student’s Program Committee is disbanded after the student passes the Comprehensive (Oral) Examination.

 

DESCRIPTION OF PROCESS FOR CHANGING POLICY:

Majority vote by the College of Business and Industry Graduate Faculty.

                       

DESCRIPTION OF RELATED PROCEDURE:

The program Committee specifies the student’s required course work via a “Program of Graduate Study” form, available on the Graduate Studies of Business website.  The completed form is returned for approval by the Director of Graduate Studies of Business within the first regular semester after the student’s enrollment.  The Program Committee is to consult with the student and the Director of Graduate Studies in Business regarding concerns about course work progress.  The Comprehensive (Oral) Examination is scheduled through the Office of Graduate Studies in Business when the student has completed all required course work, passed all Qualifying Examination, and passed all preliminary (written) examinations.

 

REVIEW OF POLICY/PROCEDURE:

This COBI-AOP will be reviewed at least every five years by the Graduate Policies Committee at the request of the Graduate Director with request for revision presented to the College of Business and Industry Graduate Faculty.
